Moving on From Google Reader

No Longer Available After July 1, 2013

Google is making a number of changes that began in 2011, and the biggest change for us includes the retirement of Google Reader as of July 1, 2013.  If you’re using Google Reader to obtain our updates, please read this and take action before the deadline.

The goal of this post is to provide a few resources for our subscribers, to make this as seamless and painless as possible. We found some resources online, including articles from Google and other companies that are making a positive out of what could have been tramatic for a number of companies including ours. There was a collective pause when the announcement was made as everyone hit the panic button.

But most after reviewing the web, we found several alternatives, including the ones outlined in the Five Best Google Reader Alternatives posted on Life In fact, we’re finding that some of the alternatives may provide a better deal than Google Reader!

The initial attraction for Google was that it launched as a free tool that introduced us to news aggregation.  Now that we’ve used to tool, it’s more about providing opportunities for other firms to launch new, more advanced solutions.

We have listed these options to make it easy for you to make a simple transition that will allow you to maintain the connections and functionality that you have grown to love in Google Reader.

  1. Subscribe by Email – The option to subscribe to our blog via email has always been available.  It’s a simple solution that allows you to continue to receive our updates with no hassle.  The only challenge is that choosing this option will require that you visit all the blogs you follow and subscribe by email. This is okay if you only subscribe to a few sites.  If you subscribe to a large number of sites, this is not the option for you.
  2. Feedly – Of all the solutions we’ve found so far, makes the transition pretty seamless.   We visited their website and found that they provide clear, easy instructions for making the switch as well as tips for basic functionality on their site.  Per their website, “more than 500,000 Google Reader users have joined the feedly community over the last 48 hours. We love passionate readers”. Here’s a link to their Tips for Transitioning from Google Reader.  Take a look at their site and guide to see if it works for your needs.

Whatever method you choose for making the switch, the sooner you explore other options, the better you’ll be able to determine which solution will meet your needs. If you have any questions or concerns about making the change, please let us know.

Time to Plan for Spring and Summer Fundraisers!

Spring and summer sporting events will begin soon for little leagues, elementary, high school and college teams.  Concession stands at sporting events and team sales conducted  throughout the year are an excellent way to raise money for equipment, uniforms, awards, trips and other items for the team.

Theme shaped bottle coolies like the ones below, are perfect for school fundraisers, tailgate parties and more! These items are keepsakes that have a special meaning to the school, team and local community, to promote school and team spirit. This will make the items easy to sell.   When these coolies are paired with t-shirts and other custom printed team gear, it presents and even greater potential to reach even higher goals.  Everyone uses custom team gear and we have several items that are available in classic  and novelty shapes like sneakers and the baseball jersey shown here.  A fundraiser can support the team with an imprint that includes the team mascot, name and other important message (for example a game schedule) on the back.

These high quality coolers are made of 1/8′ thick high density open cell scuba foam and they fits most long neck bottles. They are available in a 23 colors including green and tan camouflage.
